Assistant - Social Effects of Labour Migration: the cases of Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia
Project title: Social Effects of Labour Migration: the cases of Macedonia, Kosovo and Serbia
Main goal: The research project has the main goal to explore the correlation
between cross-border labour migration and the national social systems and in
particular examine the portability of social rights/benefits of migrant workers.
This research project is a part of a larger research project: “Migration and its
Effects on demographic and economic Development in CEE” by the Erste Foundation
for Social Development, Culture and Europe.
We are looking for an Assistant who will assist the main researcher in:
- Mapping of the legislation in the country which regulates the social
security coordination (national regulations, bilateral, multilateral agreements,
other regulations if applicable) and preparing a 1-2 page table presenting the
legislation showing which social rights/benefits are regulated by it;
- Collecting available statistics on the social transfers made to and
from the country (the actual payments of benefits);
- Scheduling interviews with relevant stakeholders: 3-4 interviews per
country with relevant stakeholder representatives. The interviews in Macedonia
and Kosovo should take place during May, in Serbia during September. The details
will be arranged between the assistant and the main researcher.
The workload (per country case) is estimated at 40 hours and will be remunerated
with 300 Euros each.
The potential candidates should:
- Be acquainted with the social security system of the country case
they are applying for;
- Have experience with conducting desk research;
- Have experience working with public institutions in these countries,
preferable from the social security sector.
